New Fungal Strains from Peat Soil in Malaysia: Morphological and Molecular Characteristics

Fungi have unique properties and are used in many areas of agriculture industry because they can produce different enzymes. This study aims to the fungal diversity peat soil from Pontian Johor, Malaysia. The isolates were described on culture media a new medium called EVA identified using phenotypical characteristics molecular D1/D2 domain 28S large subunit ribosomal RNA (28S rRNA) ITS (ITS1-ITS4) rDNA regions. results revealed that 14 species (15 isolates) identified, among them, 6 categorized as newly isolated strains recorded Malaysia; these include Aspergillus arenarioides EAN603, A. iizukae EAN605, Paraconiothyrium brasiliense EAN202, Parengyodontium album EAN602, Penicillium pedernalense EAN604, Purpureocillium lilacinum EAN601. cultural, morphological, microstructure, been this study. It was noted exhibited moderate support for growth sporulation compared other media. Furthermore, efficiency an enrichment isolate fungi soils with high ligninolytic content discussed.
